With Le Samedi des Gourmets, chef Leo Besnard of Cologny's Lion d'Or imagines a lunch designed for pleasure, discovery and indulgence, in one of the most beautiful settings in the Lake Geneva region.

On Saturday lunchtime, the tempo changes on the heights of Cologny. At Lion d’Orthe new Le Samedi des Gourmets menu created by chef Leo Besnard is in keeping with this simple idea: to offer a moment where you come first and foremost to relax, look out over Lake Geneva, let your gaze drift towards the Jura, and take the time to enjoy something different. Here, there’s no repetition of the weekly market menu or extension of the business lunch. Saturday becomes a space apart, designed as a culinary discovery ground. A menu in several stages, built around the product, the terroir and a gastronomic style that is affordable in price, but demanding in taste. The initiative also reflects a clear desire to open up the restaurant even further. While the Lion d’Or enjoys a loyal international and summer clientele, the aim is now to reconnect with local customers, both from the city center and further afield, who can sometimes be reluctant to step through the door. The result: a lunch designed as an experience, but without intimidation. From GRTA leeks, tarama & kadaïf with lemon thyme, fingertip frogs, watercress and parsnips, gnocchi with parsley butter, pike roe and cod confit to baba with sake and yuzu, the menu assumes its gastronomic dimension while remaining clear and welcoming.
