After Zurich, Sando continues its expansion in Switzerland with the opening of a new location in the heart of the Bern train station. The project was conceived more than a year and a half ago in collaboration with SBB, following the success of the brand’s pop-up store at the Zurich train station.
The choice of Bern was no accident. The city is home to the country’s second-busiest train station, providing Sando with strategic visibility. Located in the station’s new extension, the restaurant enjoys a particularly prominent location, with a facade that opens onto the street and a high volume of foot traffic.
However, the project required many long months of patience. Construction work, permits, and the administrative requirements specific to the Swiss cantons delayed the opening several times. Finally, the doors opened on August 1, Switzerland’s National Day. To mark the occasion, the first 100 burgers were offered for five francs, which drew a long line of customers starting early in the morning.
