Matsuri makes its debut in Geneva
Geneva welcomes a newcomer to its Japanese gastronomic scene. The French brand Matsuri has just opened its first Swiss address in Eaux-Vives, with its concept of sushi served on a conveyor belt. But behind this opening is also a local story. For its arrival in Switzerland, Matsuri has teamed up with Pesca Rouge. The founders of this fishmonger’s, Anaïs and David Comerro, are involved in the development and operation of the restaurant, bringing their knowledge of seafood and their roots in Geneva. At the heart of the experience is the famous kaïten, a rotating counter featuring sushi, maki and other Japanese specialties. Also new to the group is Europe’s first Matsu Bar, a space dedicated to personalized cocktails and hand rolls prepared à la minute. On the plate, the menu oscillates between Japanese classics and Californian influences, while the décor designed by Swiss architect Cécile Morel revisits the codes of Japanese pop culture with a few nods to the Swiss railway world. The opening marks both the arrival of Matsuri in Switzerland and a new stage in Pesca Rouge’s development.
