At Calvin’s, the embers of the asado are reignited
Building on the enthusiasm generated last summer, the restaurant’s owner, Fabian Affentranger, is doing it all over again on Wednesday, July 15, with another asado night at the restaurant Chez Calvin. The evening will begin with an aperitif lasting about an hour, featuring wines from Gilles Besse, before giving way to a grand outdoor banquet. A long communal table will bring together guests, winemakers, and wine lovers to share much more than just a meal: a time for conversation, discovery, and new connections. While the first edition gave pride of place to Argentine winemakers, this new edition retains the essence of the asado while honoring, this time, Swiss winemakers. This evolution doesn’t change the spirit of the evening: bringing together people who may not necessarily know each other around the fire, with a good glass of wine and food designed to be shared. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate summer and to remind us that the meals we remember most are often those shared with people we didn’t know when we arrived.
