After Geneva and Lausanne, Umamido continues its journey and sets down its bowls in the Cour de Gare district of Sion. The Belgian chain, which in just a few years has become one of Switzerland’s leading ramen outlets, remains true to its credo: “Honest Ramen”, a sincere ramen, simmered and conceived as a warm and comforting moment. Born in Brussels in 2013, Umamido is the story of Japanese love at first sight. Guy Quirynen, an EHL graduate, discovered in Kyoto the power of a clear broth and the depth of a ramen prepared according to the rules of the art. Three years later, Simon Vogt and Raoul Weil imported the idea to Switzerland, driven by the desire to share the spirit of Umamido. First at the Montreux Jazz Festival, then at venues in Geneva and Lausanne. For Raoul and Simon, serving in the Valais region was an obvious choice: “Opening in Sion is an obvious choice: this city embodies the vitality, sports, popular gastronomic traditions and Swiss art of living that we love. What could be better than a good ramen after a day on the steep slopes of our mountains?”
