Measuring 82.5 centimeters in diameter, the pink carac from Confiserie Schmid has set the world record announced by the association Le Carac Rose. This culinary feat raises awareness about breast cancer prevention.

The Carac has ditched its usual green color. In Neuchâtel, it’s also gone up in size: 82.5 centimeters in diameter, more than 11 kilograms of chocolate, 3 kilograms of pink icing, and 3.5 kilograms of shortbread dough. Created by the Schmid Confectionery, this giant creation sets a record, according to the association Le Carac Rose, sets a new world record, surpassing the one set in Yverdon-les-Bains in 2025.

For this third edition, Sarah Caperos took charge of the confectionery, and Sébastien Hegetschweiler took on the challenge in the kitchen. It took several days of work to create a ganache strong enough to support the weight of the frosting.

The rain could have ruined the celebration. Originally planned to take place in front of the Temple du Bas, the event was ultimately held at Coffice on Rue Saint-Maurice. The morning featured decoration workshops with Chocolatissimo, discussions with prevention organizations, and tastings. The giant carac was cut into more than 400 slices and distributed to the public.

Beyond the record, the campaign continues throughout October at more than 500 retail locations across Switzerland. This year, the campaign is expanding to German-speaking Switzerland, from Bern to Zurich via Gstaad. For every pink carac sold, 50 centimes are donated to partner organizations.
