Mathieu Marchal, course at the Coin du Bar

Alongside Vincent Landrevie and Philippe Beaucourt, Steve Rufer, the owner, has taken another step forward by welcoming Mathieu Marchal to head up the sommellerie. It’s a name to remember, given his impressive track record. After ten years spent in Asia – five in Hong Kong with the finest Michelin-starred restaurants, then another five in South Korea as a passionate consultant to a private wine collector – Mathieu honed his palate in contact with the great houses and exceptional cellars. He also played a key role in the opening of the Four Seasons in Dubai. With him, the Bar Corner cellar takes on a new dimension: 2500 references today, soon 3000, reorganized in a spirit of balance and expansion. The idea? A fair, easy-to-understand wine list, where value for money guides the sommelier’s hand as much as the customer’s.
