Jean Sulpice is embarking on a decisive new phase for his Auberge du Père Bise, with a complete rethink of its gastronomic setting ahead of an expected reopening on February 12.

It seems like only yesterday that I met Jean Sulpice at his restaurant in Val Thorens. A few years later, the chef chose to move to the shores of Lake Annecy, in Talloires, taking over the iconic Auberge du Père Bise. Season after season, this mountain and sports enthusiast has fashioned a regional cuisine of great precision, now twice Michelin-starred, highlighting a vibrant terroir between land, lake and Alpine peaks. For the 2026 vintage, Jean Sulpice is embarking on a major new phase by completely rethinking his restaurant. He entrusted the project to architect Antoine Ricardouto imagine a place where inspiration, lines and materials interact harmoniously. “A subtle exchange between cuisine and architecture, between heritage and future”, as mentioned on the restaurant’s Instagram account. After this work, the Auberge du Père Bise will reopen its doors on February 12, ready to write a new chapter in its gastronomic history.
