Gstaad Palace expands its summer offering with Gildo's al Fresco, an open-air version of its famous Italian restaurant. On the menu: Neapolitan pizzas, antipasti, "dolce vita" and mountain views.

As the summer season approaches, the Gstaad Palace unveils a new gourmet address: Gildo’s al Fresco. From June 19, 2026, Gstaad Palace’s famous Italian restaurant will be open-air for the first time, inviting guests to experience a veritable Mediterranean journey in the heart of the Bernese Alps. Conceived as a tribute to la dolce vita, the new concept is based on the codes of an elegant Italian trattoria. Under the impetus of designer Raffi Otto (Atelier 72, Zurich), the Palace gardens are adorned with deep yellow and green hues, natural materials and a relaxed atmosphere evocative of long Italian summer days. With no particular dress code and even open to four-legged companions, Gildo’s al Fresco is all about conviviality. On the plate, transalpine classics take pride of place: antipasti, traditional pastas, fish and meat specialties, not forgetting wood-fired pizzas. A pizzaiolo trained in Naples has come to Gstaad to bring a little of the lightness of southern Italy to the table. “With Gildo’s al Fresco, we’re bringing a little dolce vita into our gardens”, Andrea Scherz points out. A promise that should appeal to both Palace regulars and Italian food lovers looking for a summer interlude in the mountains.
