Filon, the Geneva sandwich from Eaux-Vives
On September 2, Yoram Teicher opened Filonat 1 Rue du Clos, a small sandwich shop built around a simple concept: offering hot, delicious, and affordable sandwiches, while prioritizing regional products as much as possible. After several years in teaching, the Geneva native has changed careers to bring to life a project that had been on his mind for some time. In the kitchen, local ingredients find their way between two slices of bread: the bread is made in Geneva by Maison Guerrazzi, the beef is GRTA, the pork comes from Jussy, and the chicken is Swiss.
4 sandwiches
The menu starts out intentionally small with a limited selection and four sandwiches named after the founder’s personal connections: Jack, a tribute to Yoram’s grandfather; 1602, made entirely with ingredients from Geneva; “Yoyo,” his favorite; and “Yoshi,” a nod to family tradition that has become the only vegetarian option. All four recipes can also be served as a plate meal, accompanied by Lebanese tabbouleh, baked potatoes, or an iceberg lettuce salad.
Just a stone’s throw from the lake, Filon aims to become a go-to spot for everyday meals—a place where you can grab a hot, hearty sandwich before telling your friends all about it. A real gem, in short.
