After Saint-Tropez and Paris, Arnaud Donckele is about to take over the culinary direction of the legendary Manoir aux Quat' Saisons, near Oxford. This historic and legendary establishment is now looking for a new lease of life.

But where will Arnaud Donckele stop? After giving a new lease of life to the Vague d’Or in Saint-Tropez, then bringing Plénitude in Paris, the chef with multiple Michelin stars is preparing to write a new chapter, this time outside France. This summer, I went to the famous Manoir aux Quat’ SaisonsManoir aux Quat’ Saisons, near Oxford, a mythical place created over thirty years ago by Raymond Blanc, a veritable monument to British gastronomy. The experience had been, frankly, more than disappointing, despite the beauty of the manor, its history and what it still represents in the culinary imagination across the Channel. And now the house is about to change hands, at least in the kitchen. Arnaud Donckele is to take over as head chef, adding a prestigious new line to an already dizzying career. The news was first previewed by food columnist Laurent Guez, who posted it on Instagram, before being confirmed elsewhere. A strong choice for a place that is undoubtedly looking for a new lease of life, and yet another challenge for Donckele, who is now tackling one of the UK’s most symbolic tables. It remains to be seen whether this encounter between a French chef at the top of his game and a somewhat tired British institution will finally live up to the promise of its decor. Opening scheduled for summer 2027. Keep your eyes peeled… a full article is coming soon!
