Achim Schmitt, currently the dean of the Lausanne-based institution, will succeed Markus Venzin as CEO effective January 1, 2027.

The Group EHL is preparing for a leadership transition. After several years at the helm of the institution, Markus Venzin will step down as CEO at the end of the year. He will be succeeded, effective January1, 2027, by Achim Schmitt, currently the dean and a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Academic Leadership

Under the leadership of Markus Venzin, EHL has strengthened its presence both in Switzerland and internationally, earned AACSB accreditation and B Corp certification, and expanded its offerings through the creation of the School of Practical Arts. After his departure, he will continue to support the institution as vice president of the International Advisory Board.

With a strong track record of international experience in academic leadership, Achim Schmitt will now be tasked with steering the group’s next strategic cycle. His stated priority is to keep the schools and students at the heart of the initiative, with a particular focus on the performing arts, operational excellence, and a leadership style that is resolutely people-centered.
