150 years of Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok
Founded in 1876 as The Oriental, the legendary hotel celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2026. A rare, almost solemn anniversary for an address that has seen mythical writers, diplomats, artists and travelers in search of a refined Orient. Set on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the hotel has never ceased to reinvent itself without betraying its soul. Rooms and suites have recently been redesigned, combining Thai craftsmanship, precious silks and contemporary lines. The aim: to preserve the heritage while speaking to today’s traveler. To celebrate this anniversary, the house is rolling out an eighteen-month program of festivities, dubbed Unfolding Legacies. The highlight will be a spectacular gala featuring international figures and the haute gastronomie sector, in collaboration with the Club des Chefs. An elegant reminder that the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group cultivates not only luxury, but also memory.
