WOMEN I LOVE YOU
Following on from Virginie Basselot in 2018 and Marie Robert in 2019, it’s another female figure who takes the honors in the midst of an all-male line-up. Tanja Grandits, unknown to many in French-speaking Switzerland, officiates with brio at Basel’s gastronomic temple Stucki. Nicknamed “Miss 1000 volts”, she charms her customers with a delicate cuisine based around her flagship “Aroma” menu. From mackerel to corn, langoustines, porcini mushrooms and wagyu, it’s all there. Alongside Philippe Chevrier, Franck Giovannini, Andreas Caminada, Peter Knogl, Didier de Courten, Ravet Père et fils and Heiko Nieder, this little lady joins the very closed male clan of 19 points. PINTE DES MOSSETTES IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Romain Paillereau continues his culinary journey from the top of his mountain home in Fribourg. Over the years, La Pinte des Mossettes has become an unmissable stop on the food scene in French-speaking Switzerland. The guide made no mistake in awarding the Bordeaux-born chef a 17th point. A richly deserved reward that could echo a potential second Michelin star early this year. Fred Grangier
MAISON WENGER WINS AWARD
It’s hardly a surprise to see Jeremy Desbraux among the winners. Franck Giovannini’s former right-hand man at Crissier Town Hall, took the daring gamble of taking over La Maison Wenger in Noirmont a year ago, and was immediately rewarded with a 17th point. Well done!
GENEVA IN FORCE
On the Geneva side, a host of new faces show up in this new edition. L’Artichaut, Mapo, Le Bleu Nuit, Le Bombar, l’Osteria della Bottega, le Cinquième Jour, le Tablar, Nagomi, le Bistrot du Lion d’Or, La Tanière, Les Curiades and les Fourneaux du Manège. A breath of fresh air (for some) that shows a real desire for culinary rejuvenation supported by a new wave of chefs. Geneva has never been so attractive – what a trend! Florian Le Bouhec moves upmarket with a score of 14 in his gourmet stronghold Le Bologne on rue Necker. The same goes for Philippe Durandeau at Café de la Paix. On the hotel side, Le Jardin du Richemond under chef Philippe Bourrel and FiskeBar at the Ritz-Carlton with young Benjamin Breton reach the 17 and 16 thresholds respectively.
