Au coin du Bar continues to write its own history, and remains the typical bistro where life is good.

Claude Brassens’s song “les copains d’abord” (Friends first) rings out on a loop as you step through the door of this no-nonsense establishment. It’s a unique meeting place for friendly discussions over a glass of wine. Here, the cult of conviviality prevails. Here, the discreet yet well-stocked wine cellar turns heads. With a sesame previously granted by the owner, it’s advisable to take the time to come down and contemplate the scrupulously selected bottles. From unadulterated wines to flasks from the finest Bordeaux vineyards, a treasure trove of wine lies dormant in the heart of Geneva. For novices and experts alike, the cellar is accessible to all budgets.

At the helm of the room, the tandem of Vincent Landrevie and Fred Mahrer. A mischievous and amusing duo that operates with both accuracy and discretion. But it’s behind the stoves that recent changes have taken place. Young Thibaut Bleuzet, former Fiskebar chef, has recently joined Elton Biegalski. Together, they bring a youthful, modern touch to this downtown Geneva address. With an octopus carpaccio cleverly enhanced with a chimichurri sauce and a beautifully pearly pollack, accompanied by “al dente” greens and a homemade hummus, Au Coin du Bar’s cuisine is starting to hit its stride, while still retaining plenty of room for improvement. The two chefs’ culinary styles and settings are working, and you can feel it! Gourmet regularity and consistency are essential to the business. Despite the prevailing health situation, the skies over Le Coin du Bar have cleared…
