Michel Bouzereau at WineDigger
An unconditional lover of the estate’s wines Michel Bouzereau & FilsJulien Samson shares his enthusiasm for the work of one of Meursault’s greatest winemakers. A man of great talent, heir to a family tradition rooted in several generations, Jean-Baptiste (Michel’s son) manages 12 hectares of vines on one of the finest terroirs on the Côte de Beaune. His meticulous work, imbued with a rare sensitivity, produces wines of exceptional finesse and purity, embodying the very quintessence of Burgundy. Each tasting of the domaine’s wines is an invitation to emotion, and the compromise between tradition and modernity in Chardonnay reveals an extreme accuracy in the art of magnifying the vine.
The Meursault Les Grands Charrons is a perfect example. From the very first nose, we are seduced by enchanting aromas of orchard fruit, fresh almond and delicate floral notes, subtly accompanied by scents of freshly baked brioche. On the palate, the minerality of the limestone soil so typical of this parcel is fully expressed. The attack is frank and ample, revealing magnificent volume. The 2021 vintage is at its best, offering us a glimpse of its future potential. The well-balanced finish oscillates between saline nuances and infusion flavors, recalling the precision and elegance that Jean-Baptiste infuses into each of his wines.
His bottles, veritable treasures, bear witness to the refinement of Burgundy and the incomparable mastery of this all too discreet winemaker, whose wines never cease to fascinate with their ability to stand the test of time while preserving their soul. Find them at WineDigger!
