Le Clos des Bouquinardières, Wine Digger’s Muscadet
“Some wines don’t just please, they surprise and make you want to know more,” says Julien Samson, director and head sommelier of Wine Digger. Wine Digger. That’s exactly what Jérôme Bretaudeau’s Gabbro cuvée offers, a creation that propels the appellation closer to the stars. Behind this bottle is RVF’s Vigneron de l’Année, a distinction that takes on its full meaning when one discovers the care taken over the entirety of his work.
Clos des Bouquinardières lies on a terroir as rare as it is fascinating: gabbro. This volcanic rock, a component of the earth’s crust and even found on the Moon, confers an extraordinary mineral imprint. The grape variety? Melon de Bourgogne. Here, it’s harvested by hand before undergoing natural vinification. On the nose, a captivating bouquet is revealed: citrus notes, white fruits, menthol and a mineral touch reminiscent of gunflint. On the palate, the attack is frank, carried by a vibrant energy, while the bitters develop with elegance. The “fat” yet chiseled texture gives way to a long, delicate, saline finish, imbued with intense freshness.
From langoustines to lobster and noble fish, it’s also a fine match for well-aged cheeses like the 36-month Gruyère “Caramel”. Its aging capacity, which can exceed 5 to 7 years, promises even richer tasting moments for patient connoisseurs. Lovers of fine discoveries, don’t miss out. This Gabbro Muscadet is an invitation to explore and redefine our vision of what Muscadet has to offer. Find it at Winne Digger!
