Wine auction company Baghera/wines recently sold the most expensive magnum of 2024.

Held on December 23, 2024, the online auction of Baghera/wines online auction entitled “North-East, A Christmas diptych of rare Henri Jayer magnums” took a captivating turn. The two magnums by winemaker Henri Jayer far exceeded all expectations, selling well above their pre-sale estimates. The 1978 Richebourg sold for CHF 109,800, setting a new record as the most expensive magnum sold in 2024 and marking a historic moment in Burgundy wine auctions, while the 1993 Cros Parantoux sold for a remarkable CHF 67,100. “The sale of these magnums represents a rare moment in the world of prestige wine. Coming directly from the Domaine Henri Jayer, their origin is indisputable, and collectors had an exceptional, but above all unique, opportunity to acquire rare wines. Given the historical importance and exceptional condition of these magnums, it is unlikely that we will see anything comparable at auction in the near future. Baghera/Wines demonstrates, once again, its consistent ability to source and present exceptional properties and offer them for sale – providing connoisseurs with access to rarely equalled pieces of wine history” said Michael Ganne, Founder of Baghera/wines.
