Lupo, a new Italian sandwich shop
A new stop in the Plainpalais neighborhood: Lupo. Opened in May, this new spot serves Italian sandwiches. Its founder, Martin Bédat, is a graduate of the École Hôtelière de Lausanne. “I’ve always worked in the restaurant business, because my nonno and nonna ran an Italian restaurant here in Geneva,” he tells us. After gaining experience with the Luigia group as manager in Fribourg, the time had come for Martin to return to our beautiful city to develop his own concept. That’s how Lupo was born. The sandwiches are prepared to order, right before the customer’s eyes. “I’ve always loved sandwiches, and it was important to me that they be delicious,” Martin admits.
On the menu: hearty sandwiches to enjoy. Topped with house-made sauces—tarragon butter, tartar sauce, pesto, or smoked paprika mayonnaise—they’re served with carefully selected cold cuts: mortadella, porchetta, or San Daniele prosciutto, his grandfather’s favorite. But what really sets them apart is the bread: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. And while the shop currently offers only takeout, Martin already has plenty of ideas for the future—which we can’t wait to discover!
