What could be better than when young people innovate in favor of pure, playful gastronomy? Such is the case at Coin Coin where chef Valentin Pouzet offers an ode to the sea in his wonderful restaurant on the corner of rue des Bains and boulevard Carl-Vogt. Now that summer is well and truly here, the team has come up with a new way of inviting you to the table. Subtly named La Criée, a discreet arcade dedicated to seafood has opened next to the restaurant. With its fish counter, diners choose what they wish to taste on the spot, and Chef Valentin cooks it up à la minute. The à la carte menu varies according to arrivals and the chef’s inspiration. As they so aptly put it: “No set rituals, just the freshness of the day, the freedom to choose and the taste of summer on the plate. We come to be surprised. To sit down. To feel that things can slow down. In the end, you arrive, choose and let yourself be carried away.” What else? A fishmonger’s next door to a restaurant… or the other way around? Who knows, time will tell soon enough!
