The grand return of Poissonnerie Kennedy
We had already talked about it in its miniature version. We couldn’t resist returning to the enlarged version. Without even having drawn our first fork, we noticed that the Poissonnerie Kennedy in its 2.0 version is a hit. This atypical Mediterranean spot, entirely open onto a busy street, with its retro decor and rough, almost dilapidated New York loft-style walls, is as original as it is successful, without having lost any of its soul. With a kitchen opening onto the main dining room and an inner courtyard hidden from view, you can choose between two atmospheres (with a preference for the first).
Charming and charming
Over the years, Marseille has established itself as a unique gastronomic destination that continues to flourish, while retaining a strong urban identity. Quality restaurants abound on every street corner. La Poissonnerie Kennedy, on the other hand, has that extra something, that extra charm and that extra human energy that makes all the difference. Bobos and hipsters have already made it their headquarters. With the exception of a 100% biodynamic wine list and unadulterated bottles, there’s no segregation.
In this environment, our hearts are racing, and to make them beat even faster we order a few snacks. A tarama in smoked oil makes its appearance, along with a few Cantabrian anchovies and half a bottarga to be cut into small strips and sprinkled with lemon. A striking sequence of appetizers, even if, with the exception of the tarama, the products come from elsewhere. Bravo for sourcing. The heirloom tomatoes are arranged on a light layer of bagna cauda and basil sauce. A vegetable wonder in the middle of summer.
Marinated mackerel
Barbecued langoustines are accompanied by an elegant bisque spiced with verbena, while marinated mackerel and lean crudo escorted by tomato and geranium water refresh the palate. Even if the chocolate mousse didn’t have….ni the taste and consistency of a mousse, Poissonnerie Kennedy’s performance is an invitation to an intoxicating culinary moment. Let yourself be carried away by the bewitching Mediterranean that lines the shores of Corniche Kennedy. Let yourself be possessed by a city often maligned and misunderstood, yet unique. Let yourself be bewitched by the Poissonnerie Kennedy, which I’m sure will fill you with wonder during a seaside interlude…
