Sawerdō: Sourdough Bread and Authentic Cuisine
Just a stone’s throw from the Cornavin train station, Sawerdō has been going strong since it opened in 2021. Already well known for its bread—which can be found on the tables of many Geneva restaurants—Sawerdō now invites us to discover its brunch, served at lunchtime. We take a seat on the terrace, bathed in the gentle rays of the October sun, and peruse the menu.

Roasted Halloumi with Honey
From the very first glance, the menu whets our appetite. With a mix of sweet and savory options, we settle on the Philly Cheesesteak and the honey-roasted halloumi. On one side, a soft bun topped with pulled beef, cheddar, and paprika mayonnaise, accented with red onion pickles, hazelnuts, and dill. A generous, indulgent dish that won us over. On the other plate, the halloumi is served with thin slices of beet, caramelized shallots, and orange segments. A lighter dish—perhaps a bit too sweet—but one that reveals a lovely balance as the flavors blend on the palate.
After a meal like that, it’s impossible to leave Sawerdō without giving in to the temptation of a loaf of bread in the window. We set our sights on an olive-flavored loaf, which will go perfectly with our dinner tonight. A signature sourdough dough and perfectly executed baking: the recipe for success among the people of Geneva. And because a meal must end on a sweet note, we choose a matcha and white chocolate cookie. Soft, generous, and indulgent, it brings this sunny break to a close.

A Heartfelt Lunch
At Sawerdō, the lunch break is meant to be genuine and unpretentious. With its thoughtfully crafted cuisine and undeniable baking expertise, the restaurant offers a lovely opportunity to slow down. It’s a place where you leave feeling satisfied, eager to return, and always with a loaf of bread under your arm.
