At the entrance to the village of Les Goudes, just a stone's throw from Marseille, the Tuba Club is a vibrant, energetic, gourmet, solar-powered hymn to nature. Sharing a story for insiders.

How beautiful is the road leading to the village of Les Goudes! The sun’s rays sparkle on the blue water and accompany intrepid travelers in search of a beautiful escape from the bustling center of Marseille. A journey without really traveling. A journey in a lunar environment, on a cliffside overlooking the Mediterranean. The city of Marseille, its hills and creeks, and the people who live there, have character! A little more patience, the grail is near. There’s nothing like a forced wait to appreciate lunch. Let’s leave the hustle and bustle behind us, and seek peace of mind in the face of the marine spectacle unfolding before us.

Elegant garden shed

Let’s go down a few steps and approach the rocks. A former diving center, the Tuba Club is a tribute to the carefree days of the 60s, when everything was simpler and more authentic. Designed in the spirit of a large, elegant and intimate cabana, the place combines simplicity without artifice with respect for the environment. White dominates, the tables are made of wood and the (few) yellow-and-white-striped deckchairs are placed right on the rock… just as before. With a hint of positive nostalgia, the team in place gives meaning to life and awakens in us a feeling of sincerity. It’s as if the times we live in have made us forget the fundamentals of propriety. Greg Gassa’s calm and relaxed demeanor continues to inspire the places he has created.

The chef has changed, we’re told, and the spotlight is on seafood. Crudo, tartare, sashimi, carpaccio and crusigi are all on the menu. Tuna rubs shoulders with sea bream, while pescadou charms lobster and bass. The seasonings are just right, the decorations meticulous. Faced with the immensity of the landscape, each mouthful anchors us in the place a little more, as if, at that very moment, it belonged to us. The service is impeccable, kind and friendly. A rarity in the South of France. The wine list, which would have been a fitting way to raise a glass to all the elements, is unfortunately lacking in fine wine references. But in the end, is the approach more spiritual…and elsewhere!

A discreet institution

Blending seamlessly into the surrounding environment, Le Tuba Club’s natural, spontaneous style brings a certain comfort. In perfect harmony with its surroundings, this chic shack, where espadrilles are far more de rigueur than high heels, takes its customers to the heights. Let’s hope that this kind of establishment contributes to Marseille’s renown by promoting its beauty rather than the bad image that clings to it. Let’s take a look at this discreet, still-secret institution…or maybe not!
