Champagne Marx-Coutelas

Just because the festive season is behind us doesn’t mean we should put the bubbles away… Champagne is first and foremost a wine, the expression of a terroir, and makes for some very interesting pairings, often taking over when the wine reaches its limits. Axel Caubet at Pompette specializes in “champagnes de vignerons” and works exclusively with “récoltants-manipulants” (i.e., the estate has complete control over its production, from vine cultivation to champagne production).
Let’s start the year with Marx-Coutelas champagnes, established in Venteuil in the heart of the Marne Valley since the 17th century. Passed down from generation to generation with respect for the living and protection of biodiversity. Smooth, almost creamy, spherical and deep, with lightly toasted saline notes, the champagne from these two cuvées has a superb mouthfeel and readability. Good news for connoisseurs: new high-flying cuvées will be launched this year, and the Marx-Coutelas house has not finished making a name for itself…
