Are you in a bad mood after a typically grey and cold day in Geneva? We’ve come up with an antidote straight from the planet Marseille. Yoann Grandis, assistant manager of the restaurant Chez Calvinrestaurant, will put a smile back on your face and give you a healthy dose of vitamin C in just a few conversations over cocktails on rue du Nant. He learned the trade with his father in the family restaurant on the outskirts of Les Lecques, a village just a stone’s throw from Marseille. The partnership lasted 12 years. “Even if it was hard day-to-day, this experience was the best schooling,” he recalls.

After more than a decade with the family clan, he arrived in Geneva in 2014 and began by working at the B Club on Place de la Fusterie. This was a first for the young Yoann, who had never worked in the world of nightlife before. A detour as manager at Incontro before arriving behind the bar at Chez Calvin alongside his boss Fabian Affentranger. In just a few months, Yoann Grandis quickly became a key member of the Calvin team. “Over the past 7 years, we’ve built a family around Fabian. We do our best to maintain a high level of service, and despite the passage of time, we’re still a close-knit team.
