The hotel behemoth arrives in Fribourg to operate a 120-room hotel under the AC Hotels brand.

Announced by the “La Gruyère” newspaper last week, the Marriott International group will shortly be opening a 120-room, four-star hotel in Bulle. The world’s largest hotel group will thus be setting up shop in the Pâla district. As mentioned on the hotel magazine website, the project is being managed by Urban Project, on behalf of the owner Pâl’Otel Management SA. The hotel is part of a larger real estate project, entitled “Les Jardins de la Pâla”, comprising housing, shops, offices and a garden center. According to Xavier Jeanneret, co-founder and managing director of Urban Project, Marriott was already interested in the Gruyère town even before Rolex was announced. “They come for the town’s dynamism, the presence of major companies and the expansion of tourism between Broc and Gruyère. They see the potential,” he explains. Opening is scheduled for the end of 2026.
