Bertrand Lutaud is Master Sommelier

He’s done it! Bertrand Lutaud is officially Master Sommelier ! Contacted by telephone, he declares that he is still struggling to come to terms with the event. What could be more normal after seven years dedicated to the study of viticulture and the vine? The difficulty is immense, and there are many tests to pass before reaching the grail. Four levels must be passed before the coveted title can be claimed. Blind tastings, practical notions and the art of service, product knowledge and a large theoretical section. In addition to 80 wine-related questions, the final stage involves a 25-minute analysis of six wines, requiring oral answers. Each stage demands an unparalleled level of rigor and titanic hard work… not to mention the day-to-day life of a restaurateur. Since 1950, only 280 Master Sommeliers have achieved this distinction. Congratulations to Bertrand Lutaud of Yeast for this magnificent award, and to his wife, Berengère, who “without her, none of this would have been possible”.
