After Jakarta and a career that has taken him to all corners of the world, Christian Wildhaber will take over as general manager of the Mandarin Oriental in Geneva on September 1. It’s a return to his roots for this hotelier, who is originally from Vevey.

The Mandarin Oriental in Geneva is getting a new general manager. Effective September1, 2026, Christian Wildhaber will take the helm of the Geneva property. He is coming from Jakarta, where he has been managing the Mandarin Oriental since August 2025.

With nearly thirty years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry behind him and a decidedly international career—the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Sydney, Guangzhou…—he went on to make a notable mark in Lucerne. As head of the Mandarin Oriental Palace, Lucerne, he spearheaded the hotel’s renovation, opening, and launch.

A native of Vevey and fluent in French, English, and German, Christian Wildhaber is returning to Switzerland—this time to Geneva. It’s a city on a human scale, yet with an international reach, which fits his career path quite well.
