Cave Royale

This week, Romain Lemaire from Cave Royale in Lausanne presents us with a highly complex red wine: Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Henri Rebourseau. Located in Burgundy, the estate stretches between the villages of Gevrey-Chambertin and Vougeot, on one of the oldest parcels of the Côte de Nuits. This grand cru comes from a terroir with an extraordinary history. In 1855, four Burgundy grands crus were classified as Tête de cuvée. Clos de Vougeot was one of them, along with Chambertin, Clos de Bèze and Romanée Conti.
This wine has a highly expressive aromatic bouquet. On the palate, the wine is well-structured and lively, with well-balanced black fruit aromas, lightly smoky notes and a fresh finish. Romain Lemaire is currently offering the 2019 and 2020 vintages. These red wines can be cellared until around 2030 to bring out all their aromatic nuances.
